What If Opportunity Never Knocks?

If you don't hear opportunity knocking than you are not very perceptive.  Opportunity is always knocking.  The opportunities are overwhelming if your eyes are open, your ears are open and your senses are working.

Right now, I'm frustrated because all around me are opportunities to make more money, make passive income and I can't write and research fast enough to tell you all about them.

Open your mind!  Use your senses.  Tell yourself money is all around you, the opportunity is not just knocking on your door but thumping on your forehead.  If you don't hear the knocking, it's because you are distracted or just don't want to hear the knocking.

As my son likes to point out to me whenever I have questions about anything, "Mom, you have a whole computer in your hands." (meaning my smartphone).  Today, if you are searching for opportunity all you have to do is using your fingers on the device in your hand.  These days, you have an infinite number of resources at your disposal.  Use them!

What I'm saying is ultimately, if opportunity doesn't come knocking . . . honey, you have knuckles start knocking on doors, windows, walls until you discover your next big break.

Get started my powerful and influential friend!

IF YOU WIN THE LOTTERY: A simple way to keep your riches

There are so many stories of how people lose their winnings when they have a windfall, such as winning the lottery.  Here is a simple way to keep your windfall working FOR you for years!

It's really simple.  Ready?

Let's say you've won the lottery.  Let's imagine the smallest win in California which is $7 million.

If you take the cash value of that win, you can say goodbye to 50% of the winnings.  So, you actually get a lump sum of $3.5 million.  Oh but wait, you have to pay your taxes!  If you consider Federal and State Taxes subtract 40%.

So, take your $3.5 million x .40 = $1,400,000.  Now $3,500,000 - $1,400,000 = $2,100,000

So, ultimately you will receive a check for $2,100,000 (they actually wire it to your account, but I digress).  Now let's create simple steps to make your life better for the rest of your life.

Step 1.  Hire a tax advisor, financial advisor and attorney.  It's very important that you do this first because these guys can help you avoid taxes & fees and keep people who will try to take your money (troublemakers) away from your winnings.  This should cost you no more than $25,000 initially (warning: if they want more than that, find another advisor)
($25,000)

Step 2. Get rid of debt.  Most U.S. Citizens have no more than $100,000 in debt.  Let's just say for this exercise you have $100,000 in debt.
($100,000)

Step 3.  Charity brings good karma and is a great tax deduction, so take 10% of your winnings and give to charity.
($210,000)

Step 4.  Play time!  What good is winning anything if you don't take some of that money and play with it.  You have permission to spend (some) of your winnings on frivolous things you've always wanted.  Take 10% and play, play, play
($210,000)

Step 5.  Now take the rest of your winnings and put it in a safe investment yielding at least 6% per annum. Your financial advisor will be able to tell you were you can find investments that will yield 6-10% in interest SAFELY.  For this exercise we'll calculate with a conservative 6%, your financial advisor may be able to help you gain a higher yield.

You have $2,100,000 (cash winnings) - $545,000 (Steps 1-4) = $1,555,000

So,  $1,555,000 x .06% = $93,300 per year.

If you keep this cash winnings in this investment, never touch that $1,555,000 million and leave it in that account you will receive at minimum $93,300 per year.  This is your yearly salary, without working a 9-5 job, automatically.  With no debt, could you live on $93,300 a year?

I don't know about you, but I sure can!

And as long as you take out $93,000 a year from your account or LESS, you will always be a millionaire.  If you decide to take LESS than $93,000 a year  . . . say $75,000 a year, you will grow your million into multi-millions within a few years!

And THAT is how you win the lottery, live well and still have millions YEARS later.

Now that you have a concrete plan if you win the lottery.  Go buy a ticket!  And good luck.

How do music stars go bankrupt?

We are continuing with the lesson on BIG MONEY and how NOT to become bankrupt.

Music stars, yes, music stars live a very glamorous life right?

They ride in fancy cars, wear the latest clothes, diamonds, houses, jet planes, champagne . . . all in front of the camera.  Yes, it's great.

But what they don't tell these stars is when the cameras stop recording and they are sitting at home alone, they better break out the Excel Spreadsheets . . . or better yet, the pen and paper and calculator and make sure they have money left over.

Here is the Late Great Lisa "Left-eye" Lopez of the singing group TLC explaining how a group that should over 10,000,000 records in one year (yes, that's 10 million) can be in bankruptcy.

Listen carefully, because all this information can be controlled from the beginning if you work your CONTRACTS correctly (which most people that gain a big wad of money do not do).  When someone starts talking to you and mentions money that is in the millions.  Time to talk to a lawyer and make sure that lawyer is getting you EVERY ADVANTAGE on that contract.

What should you do if you get BIG MONEY!

Josh Childress explains: What Happens When You Sign A $11 Million Deal In The NBA

There are a lot of people (more than you are aware) that fall into money.  Yes, this can happen to you.  You could win the lottery, become famous, become a sports star or win a settlement . . . and of course you could inherit [it can happened!]

If you are going to have big money, you have to be ready to manage BIG MONEY.  The stats show that people that have a "wind fall" (i.e. a lot money gets dropped into laps) are broke within 3-5 years.  We are NOT going to have that happen to you.

Here are some people that know what it's like to have sudden money.  Listen to their story and take notes of what they did.  You, my dear, are NOT going to be them.

How People Are Doing It: Pat Flynn - Smart Passive Income

I started following Mr. Flynn a while ago and I must tell you that this man is impressive.  He is a person that gives full disclosure of all the things that he does to grow his online business and his income.

I call him the King of Explaining How to Create Passive Income Online.  I'm serious.  If you want to learn how to make passive income online and do it well, you should read his entire blog, listen to all his pod-casts and watch all his videos.  It will probably take you a whole month to do that, that's how much information he provides and it's all really great information!

People who demand money for their knowledge do not give the quality of information that Pat Flynn does. Seriously, he could demand thousands of dollars for what he gives away for free.

Can you tell that I love his website Smart Passive Income?

If you are new to passive income or online business, you should hit his START HERE tab on his website.  It begins your journey in his Passive Income 101 Series.

But the coolest thing about Pat Flynn . . . he provides detailed reports on how much income he makes.  That's right, he provides reports on what worked, what didn't work, how much he put into it and how much he gets from it each month.  So you can see how he slowly but surely grew his income over time.  It's great stuff and everyone loves those reports.

I swear once you start reading, hearing and/or watching his information, you will NOT want to stop . . . well, maybe you will because you will begin your online business empire.

Pat Flynn is the best tool that I can possibly think of to creating powerful and influential friends, because his website and YouTube channels gives you the step-by-step to getting that way!

Check him out and let me know what you think.

Why SHOULDN'T Marissa Mayer (CEO of Yahoo!) get $36 Million Dollars?

Man, what's going on with people!  There are so many articles about the female CEO of Yahoo! Inc. and how much she is getting paid -- like what she's getting paid last year is a big thing in the CEO world. It's not.

Other top executives (CEOs, COOs, CIOs, etc.) get a lot more compensation with no proof that they are doing any innovating, changing or creating value for their perspective companies.  If you really look into the world of CEOs and their salaries & compensation -- I venture to say that Marrisa Mayer isn't even getting paid fairly compared to her fellow CEOs.  Let's see what CEOs are getting each year:

CEO's Salary & Compensation

The average salary package of a S&P 500 Index Company is $12 Million in 2012 according to AFL-CIO Executive PayWatch.

Google Inc. , Eric E. Schmidt made $100 Million
( Base: $937,500, Bonus: $0, Stock & Other Awards: $99 Million)

Oracle Corp, Lawrence Ellison made $96 Million
( Base: $1, Bonus $0, Stock & Other Awards: $96 Million)

CBS Corp, Leslie Moonves made $69 Million
(Base: $3.5 Million, Bonus: $27.5 Million, Stock & Other Awards: $38 Million)

Discovery Communications Inc. David M. Zaslav $50 Million
( Base: $3 Million, Bonus $0, Stock & Other Awards: $47 Million)

Abercrombie & Fitch, Michael S. Jeffries $48 Million
( Base: $1.5 Million, Bonus $0, Stock & Other Awards: $46.5 Million)

Disney Co, Robert Iger $40.2 Million
( Base: $2.5 Million, Bonus $0, Stock & Other Awards: $37.7 Million)

McKesson Corp, John H. Hammergren $39.6 Million
( Base: $1.6 Million, Bonus $0, Stock & Other Awards: $38 Million)

There are more, but I was getting tired of typing so I choose these 7 . . .Please notice that these and approximate 100 more CEOs get in stock and other awards what Marrisa makes for her whole compensation package! Hmmmm.

Marrisa's Compensation:

So let's break down Marissa Mayer's take for 2012:
Base salary: $454,862
Bonus: $1,200,000
Stock Awards: $35,000,000 (which are not fully vested until 2017)
So basically, she can't sell most of her stock and realize a profit from having this stock until 2017.

So, what does this tell me?  It tells me that unless she helps maintain the stock price or do things to raise the stock value up by the year 2017, she does not get much of the millions and millions you guys are crying "unfair" about.  So, currently she can only get her grubby little hands on $1.6 million dollars this year.  Hmmm.

Okay, so we're clear about how Marissa's pay & compensation doesn't even compare to the top 100 CEO's of the United States . . . let's look at what Marrisa brings to the table.

The Value Marrisa Brings to Yahoo! Inc.:

1.  Much media attention when everyone thought Yahoo! was dead because, face it, Google is GOD in the world of "Inter-webs".  And know this, Google is a jealous god. So good work Marissa for getting -- and continuing to get -- good media coverage for Yahoo! This is a tough task in itself.

2. She's revamping the company culture -- expanded benefits for Yahoo employees (except telecommuting), demanded employees take ownership of projects, gave away free technology to all employees so they can work faster and gain better response time to work. Marrissa and her team's goal is to make Yahoo! a great place to work and this push may be working because Yahoo! claims that people applying for jobs at the company has doubled in the year.

3.  Yahoo's stock increased by nearly 50% from July 2012 to April 2013, thereby creating $6.8 billion (that's a "B" people!) in additional value to the shareholders of Yahoo!

 4.  She just announced a new plan for generating more ad revenue using what they call "Yahoo! Stream Ads" and "Billboard Ads."

5.  Oh, and did I mention that she did all this while . . .birthing a freakin baby! And only took a couple of weeks off for maternity leave! But, she doubled the amount of paid leave Yahoo! gives their female employees (new mothers) from 8 weeks to 16 weeks.  And increase new father's paid leave to 8 weeks.

Okay, so let's look at the bottom line.  Marrisa Mayer in her first year (while having a baby) increased Yahoo!'s value $6.8 Billion while making $36 Million (of which she won't fully realize until 2017).

So in essence she's taking home .005% of the value that SHE CREATED for the company.  Look at that number folks, that's not even 1% that's not even .5% (half of a percent).  Excuse me but, compared to the other CEOs . . .I think that's freakin' fair!

Haters gotta stop hating!

Seriously, my dear friends, if you want to be rich some day -- if you are on the path of being wealthy and having millions, maybe even billions --you really have to stop hating on people and what they have acquired and do the numbers!

If you could start figuring out your worth within your company, your association, your industry and actually show people that your skills, expertise and knowledge can gain them wealth -- you too can ask for .5% (half a percent) of the gain or profits.  You could even ask for 1% of the gain, profit or value with a good conscious and still be wealthy beyond your wildest dreams.  We have to start breaking down what we can do and present them in cold, hard RESULTS (number,s usually).  It's the only language business understands, so we should start learning the language -- and stop hating others that are fluent in said language.

The moral of the story

The only thing I resent about Marrisa Mayers is that she realized that she was a value to a company and that she had the fortitude to take the risks, make the changes, and create great value -- and she recognized that she should be compensated for these skills.

And I freakin' didn't recognize this about myself!

So here's the question to you (my dear reader) . . .

When are WE going to realize this, so we can gain the wealth we want?

When are WE going to recognize our value and how it benefits others?

When we can answer that about ourselves.  Then we will no long waste energy questioning others and their success.  We will be to busy enjoying our own!

Your Six Figure Income - Become a High-Income Earner, like tomorrow!

"Your work is to discover your work, and then, with all your heart, to give yourself into it. ~ BUDDHA

I've studied this book for a couple of years now and I would invite ALL PEOPLE (not just women) to read this book!  I actually read this book, studied it, and tried to apply it to my life.  It really helped me work on my "mental" blocks in truly valuing my skills, my experience and my knowledge -- and USING them.

The result of my reading this book has been a better salary, a better valuation of what I bring to a company (whether it be an employer or client), a new business that I've recently started and the gumption to actually follow my passion and really focus on my writing career!

Here is what I learned from this book.

  • Our state of mind, more than anything, determines our level of financial success.
  • People that make six figure incomes "high earners" are no different than you or me (they have the same doubts and fears)
  • You must promote yourself and what you can do - don't think people will just notice (passivity does not help you succeed)
  • Anyone with value, worth, skills and experience can be a high earner (you just have to recognize your own worth)
  • Lack of education doesn't have to hold you back
  • One of the big secrets of "high earners," feel the fear, have the doubts, and go for it anyway
  • The principles "underearners" hold on to and how to let these unhelpful principles go and stop self-sabotaging yourself
  • The traits of 6-figure "high income earners"
This book has really helped me step into my personal power and claim it!  It's one of the catalysts that helped me to rejuvenate this blog and begin spreading what I know so that you guys can benefit from this type of information too.

I recommend this book highly.

The book is not expensive at around $12.00 and it is well worth your money!
Check out *Secrets of Six Figure Women: Surprising Strategies to Up Your Earnings and Change Your Life by Barbara Stanny -- you will not be disappointed.

I want every one of you to buy and study this book because I want to be surrounded by "high-income earners"-- because, I've always wanted powerful and influential friends!

Tube Ninja Wealth Principle: The Money Myth...

I simply love this guy and this video is EXACTLY the kind of stuff we need to realize as people who will soon hold much wealth! [grin]

He's fun and entertaining and if you listen -- you might just learn something valuable.

And just so you know: I take my money "attitude" from my grandmother who raised me and survived the depression. So, for me . . . money is always scarce. I've got to change that huh?

Collecting Change can change your life!

Wow, I was not aware that so many people collect change in this world and how it has changed their lives -- often for the better. May goodness, I did some math the other day and if I had picked up and saved all the change that I encountered in my young life . . . I would already by a millionaire. I mean do the math . . .

Anyway, I'm devoting this post to all the bloggers out there that collect change and in that change, changed their lives and my life as well. Carry on my good people!

Thoughts from the Change Race

One Coin at a Time

The Changepot

Change is Good
Penny Squishing

Race of the Century

Piggy Bank

Believe it or not, ALOT of these people are actually FINDING $200 - $500 a year by just picking up coins on the street and in stores and what-not. Do you realize that if you picked up $200 a year and invested it in a safe money-market account giving 4.5% interest, you would have . . . $1,392 in five years. Five years of simply looking down and picking up change! Let's say you take that $1,392 and put it in a mutual fund gaining you 7% interest for the next five years (adding $200 a year in coins that you find). Within 10 years you now have $3,183. Now watch this . . . let's just say you keep it in there for another 5 years (adding $200 a year) -- $5, 695 . . . just from picking up pennies!

Over $5,000 in 15 years, just from picking up pennies and dimes and such? I can do that!

Tallying my GAINS for April-May 2008

Okay, just in case you guys want to know and because it's only fair -- I'm going to outline my efforts to gain my millions and millions of dollars. I'm not listing gains from my actual "job" because that money is used to take care of family, household, etc. This list of gains strictly goes toward my millionaire dreams. So here it goes (rounded out for convenience).

eBay $400.00
Blogging & Writing $100.00
Advertising Revenue $35.00
Affiliate Revenue $39.00
------------------------------------
Total 2 Month Gain $574.00

I can hear you all saying, "Is that it?" All your work and you just made a measly 574 dollars? Well, yeah. It'll be more soon. Those that shoot me down because this experiment has started off slow (and feels like it will forever remain slow) obviously are oblivious to the concept of exponential growth.

[For those of you that have no clue what exponential growth is . . . hold on, I'll have an explanation about this type of growth in another post. Stay tuned.]

----------------
You can make this blog better. Tell me what types of topics you want me to focus on. I'll be happy to write about things that actually help and entertain you. Or drop me a line at telemill at gmail. [You know what to do to send the e-mail, right?]

Bryan C Fleming's Millionaire Dollar Club

As you know, I'm always on the look out to help my readers (and myself) find ways and methods to reach the Millionaire Club. I came across Bryan C. Fleming the author of "Home of the Million Dollar Savings Club."

He has an excellent post entitled: Million Dollar Savings Club Turns 1 Year Old that outlines a really painless and easy way to save money. And the wonderful thing about this is he's taking the journey along with everyone else and he documents it right here.

He seems to be having good success with his method and it's worth a shot if you decide to do it.

Staying Married is the Way to Riches

This post is for all those lovely couples who are contemplating marriage.

This is the season for such things. Rings are given during Christmas or Valentines Day and then the wedding is planned for May or June (sometimes July). That's real cute, but take some advice from an old married person who has been in a relationship for a very, very, very long time. Who has been married for a while too (over a decade or two).

If you marry and wish to become rich . . . Divorce, Separation, whatever . . is not an option. So if you are marrying, make sure you marry for life.

As I often say to my husband . . . "know this now, if it doesn't work out (our marriage) you are just going to have to live the rest of your life and die, hating me, 'cause there will be no divorce. We'll be 90-year-old-grumps throwing our false teeth at each other while we rock on the porch, but got-damn it, we will STILL be married."

I'm not giving my riches up for ANYONE. And divorce/separation is the fasted way to lose all you have worked hard for. You can recover from BANKRUPTCY faster than a divorce. Unfortunately for my poor husband, because I know this is true . . . he's stuck. (You have my permission to feel sorry for him.)

Okay, so how do you make sure you have a long-lasting marriage so you can stay rich? 'Cause everyone tells you to "stay married" but, frankly, no one tells you how to do that.

As I look back at what made my marriage work -- the only thing I can pinpoint that was different from my divorced (and poor) friends were . . . my husband and I discussed every - I MEAN EVERY - topic you can think of before we really committed.

Not that we agreed on much of them. We didn't.

But we knew where each other stood on . . .
1. In-laws and having in-laws stay with us for an extended time (more than 2 weeks).
2. What we thought of each others mother (honestly)
3. Kids - what to do with them, what we expect from them, and how to get what we expected.
4. Sex - how much, how often and what positions (that one was fun)
5. Hygiene
6. Cleanliness of the house
7. Who cooks and why
8. Money -- this one was long and varied and got us in a lot of arguments (better BEFORE than AFTER the wedding).
9. If we won the lottery what would we do?
10. If one of use died what would we do?
11. If one of us cheated on one another what would we do?
12. If we were on a sinking ship and there was room for the kid or the spouse -- which one would we pick and why?
13. If either of us was raped or violently assaulted, how would we feel, how would we handle it?
14. If either of us lost a job or experienced bankruptcy, what would we feel . . . what would we do?
15. What is the one deal-breaker for you in marriage (meaning, if it happened it means instant divorce).

These were the top 15 questions, but really the questions were nearly endless. But before we discussed them in depth, we made sure to point out to each other that it was okay not to agree. We understood that many of these questions were tough to answer and the discussion was solely to gain insight on really who you are connecting with. It also lets you know (or anticipate) what to expect when life gives you those dirty little "gotchas." Those unexpected turns in the road.

Because really, that's all divorce is a symbol of . . . there was an unexpected turn in the road and one person went one way and the other went another -- 'cause they have two different pages of the roadmap. Ask some questions before the trip. Make sure you are on the same page and keep all your riches (especially the ones that can't be counted).

The Model Millionaire by Oscar Wilde

I was re-introduced to Oscar Wilde the other day (I could not appreciate him in high school -- what kid would appreciate an old dead guy?) Anyway, this guy had some very practical advice and I've decided to read some of his stuff. Currently, I found this little anecdote of his . . .

Romance is the privilege of the rich, not the profession of the unemployed.

The poor should be practical and prosaic. It is better to have a permanent income than to be fascinating.

The Model Millionaire - Oscar Wilde

Hey, ain't Oscar cold pimpin' with his cane and fur and everything? -- sorry, couldn't help commenting on that.
