Earn Quick Money Selling Your Old Tech
Do you have old computers, tablets, phones, printer, routers, etc. laying around? Do you know you are sitting on money? Did your wife get all your old devices together and put them in a box in the garage for you to take to the recycling center? DON'T.
Recycling those old items for free (even if they are not working) is like throwing dollar bills into the wind! Don't throw your money away.
There are many places that offer cash for your old electronics. There are retailers that offer trade-in programs that can give you gift cards for your old tech. And believe it or not, there is a way to make selling your old tech items a full-time endeavor that can give you a substantial income.
The idea of a substantial income piqued your interest, huh? Let me show you how to get some quick cash and maybe an ongoing income.
This post is actually a continuation of the article I wrote a while ago, titled: Earn Quick Money Selling Your Old Cell Phone. A lot of the information in this article applies here so I advise you to visit it and read it. To learn how to avoid scammers and protect your data and keep your information secure . . . please, please, please read Earn Quick Money Selling Your Old Cell Phone. It's really important.
So basically, the way you sell your used items usually goes like this:
1. Visit one of the websites I will list below. Type in (or choose) the make, model, and condition of the electronic device. Describe any defects. Some will just simply ask you to take a picture of the item and upload it to their system.
2. When you send them info and pictures through the website or app, they will send you a quote of the value of the item within 24 hours.
3. If you agree with the quote, they will send you a postage label or tell you where you can download the postage label. Make sure you carefully read the instructions for packing up the item and mail it out immediately.
4. They usually send you an email or text when the item is delivered to you, they assess your item, and if it's exactly as you describe they notify you of payment. Most will pay through Paypal. Some by check. Some by GiftCard. Payment is usually pretty fast within 3-5 days.
And that is how it's actually done.
How to expand and make even MORE MONEY!
After you have successfully sold all your old tech, you can make even more money by offering to get rid of all the old tech lying around your family and friend's houses. All you have to do is ask them if they want to get rid of their old electronics. Most people will be happy to get the junk out of their closets, cabinets, and garages.
Now, take their old electronics and repeat what you did when you sold your old devices. Suggestion: be a good friend, and give your family and friends a small percentage of your proceeds (5%-10% of what you get, is nice). Dropping a little cash, or a gift card as a "thank you" will give your family and friends incentive to call you later when they have more old electronics to get rid of. They will probably also tell "their" friends about what you can do and through simple "word of mouth" you can expand your "quick money" endeavor into an extra income activity.
Where to make that money:
ItsWorthMore.com. It's easy at this site. Click on the device you want to sell. Get a quote. Ship for free and get your cash within 2 days after they receive the item.
Gazelle. Sell your gadgets for cash. They have kiosks where you can drop off your item as well as sending it in by mail. Get paid in Amazon Gift Card, Paypal or check.
SellBroke.com. Works the same as ItsWorthMore.com and they pay you via GooglePay, Paypal or check.
Mac of All Trades. They purchase iMacs, iPads, iPhones, MacBooks, MacBook Airs, Mac Minis and Mac Pro (basically all Apple products). Visit the website to get full details of how it works.
Gadget Salvation.com With this one, you can text them to sell your old tech. Simply send a picture to 312-548-9231 and ask for the value of your item, they will send you a shipping label and after receiving you get paid.
Trade your old electronics for gift cards through retail sites
Walmart's Gadget to Gift Cards
Target's Trade-In Program
Amazon Trade-In
Apple's Recycling Program
Best Buy Recycling
How to make this into a full-time business.
After your "family and friends" start spreading the word around and you have gained a pretty good reputation on getting rid of old electronics, think about contacting local businesses, schools, and organizations that may have a truckload of old electronics and now you have items in bulk to sell.
There are different companies that will take electronics in bulk. If you decide to go this route then you need to consider:
TeleTraders.net - PCs, used network hardware, phone systems and any other old electronics.
Capitol Asset - They buy IT assets when companies liquidate their assets.
Other ways to make money with old electronics
Always remember that many times you can sell PARTS for much more money than selling items whole. And if you decide to sell parts e-Bay is one of your best tools. Local scrap yards will pay you for whatever parts are leftover.
If you have never used E-bay to sell items, here is a simple guide to help you get started quickly. WikiHow: How to Sell on E-bay (Beginner's Guide)
The future of recycling electronics - mineral mining.
What people are discovering is that mining minerals like "gold" for e-waste can make you some bucks as well. Some experts point out that extracting metals for e-waste costs 13X less than mining for virgin ore. There are people currently developing easier ways to recover gold, copper and other precious metals from e-waste. "The mining of e-waste, and production of pure metal ingots from it of copper or gold, promises to be a very profitable business," said Macquarie's Prof John Mathews. The figures emerged in a joint study from Beijing's Tsinghua University and Macquarie University, in Sydney, So keep your eyes open for a future of making money from e-waste.

That simply means that if you buy something through one of my links, you won't pay any additional costs, but "Telecommuting Millionaire?" will get a small referral fee that helps me pay some of my business expenses.

How to survive the Trump Recession (It's coming, get ready)
Well, the news is spreading that we are in line for a recession. All the economist say that the signs are very clear that this is inevitable. I found a really great video that explains why we are heading for a recession today. It's a really informative video and the guy explains if very plainly. Click the video below.
The analysis is that this is happening due to Trump's Tariff War with China. However, most of us really don't care why it's happening, people want to know what to do to survive the recession.
Well, you are in luck. Economists say that we have nine (9) months to a year (12 months) to prepare for the inevitable, so if you are reading this right now you are very fortunate. If you take the steps outlined in the post you will bless me over and over because you will be able to ride out Trump's Recession like a seagull floating on a stormy sea - you'll feel the waves but it won't destroy you.
Ready? Here we go.
1. Save as much money as you possibly can.
Save every damn penny (it's gonna count, believe me). This is a time to put your energy in a side job, an extra gig, freelance work and sock away every cent of that extra money you earn. Saving money in an interest-bearing account is optimal, but just saving money in a safe account will put you ahead of 99% of the population.
How much should you save? Well, you are going to want to have a minimum of about two to three months of expenses. Having six months or more is really the goal. It's exceedingly difficult to find a new job during a recession and usually, it will take about six (6) months to find something when the economy is sluggish. The goal is to allow you to survive and not become one of "the homeless" if or when your current primary income disappears (which often happens during recessions).
2. Lower your monthly expenses
Get rid of everything you don't need. And I mean everything you don't need to survive. Get rid of software and magazine subscriptions, cable TV, high-end phone packages, trips to Starbucks, etc. Get your expenses as low as possible so that all the money you save in Instruction #1 would stretch much further and longer for you. Do this now, not later.
Extra Tip: And also make a list of additional things you are keeping but can live without if things get really, really bad for you.
3. Start job hunting and job networking now.
Update your resume. Update your LinkedIN profile and start networking now, today, as soon as possible. Don't wait on this. Make new friends get to know some people who are top of the scale at local companies or people who own their companies. Get on their radar and make sure they know that you are open to opportunities with them. Make contacts with powerful people. You are going to need these powerful and influential friends during the recession. When opportunities are slim, people with connections tend to fair better. Make those connections now!
4. Set up extra income, now!
Start finding and setting up ways you can make extra or passive income. Do that now . . . not later, now! Understand doing side activities to gain extra income is very important for several reasons:
Reason #1: It takes some time to build up a good income from side gigs. It takes even more time to gain money from passive income activities. So you really need the 9-12 months that economists are predicting the recession will be felt by all of us to build up this income source. Use this time to ramp up your extra income possibilities.
Reason #2: This side (extra) income may become your primary or only income in the future recession. So put some effort in doing this. In fact, if you can more than one extra income stream that the better for you!
Reason #3: Save all the money you make on these side gigs for the next 9 to 12 months to get you to the Instruction #1 goal faster.
5. Pay down as much debt as you can
How do you do that? Simple. Sell everything. You are probably just like me, you probably have closets full of stuff you haven't touched in years. You have so much stuff in your two-car garage that you can't even put one car in it. Your cabinets are full of stuff that you were going to use "later." Take it out, dust it or clean it off and sell it. It's easy to list items on E-bay, Facebook MarketPlace, Craigslist, and Amazon.
Here are some places to go to help you quickly start.
6. Adjust your 401(K) & Investment Portfolio
This is the time to move most of your money from the growth-high risk option to the safe slow-growth option. It's all about preserving your hard-earned dollars here. You worked hard to put that money in your portfolio, try to preserve your hard work as long as you can. Don't worry, it won't be forever. As soon as the signs of recession are over, just flip them back into your high growth options in a couple of years.
7. Commit to no big purchases for one year.
You know what "big purchases" are. Big two-week vacations for the entire family, that new car you were thinking about leasing or buying, the possibility of buying a house. Hold that dream for just a second (12-18 months). You'll be able to do it later after the crashing waves of recession calm down.
That's it, my friends, if you follow this advice you should weather the storm nicely. Afterall, you are all my powerful and influential friends and I want to keep you that way.

Earn Quick Money: Doing Micro-Jobs
I'm always telling people to follow their passion, to do what they love to do . . . even if they can only do it for 15 minutes out of the day. Even if they aren't being compensated for their efforts. What matters, what makes your entire life better is the knowledge that you spent at least some time in your day on something that YOU love doing.
Now I have found a way that you can follow your passion and do what you love to do and get compensated for it! Isn't that wonderful?
Do you know about Micro-Jobs?
Do you realize that many people who are considered "unemployed" today are actually managing financially by working mini- or micro-jobs? The Internet calls them micro-jobs which are one-time/short-term jobs or tasks that may take one hour, one day, one week and payment is usually in cash or by Paypal.
They have a sense of freedom. You set your own schedule, determine your rate, choose the tasks you'd like to work and the people you'd like to meet. And the good part about this is there are dozens upon dozens of websites that allow you to list yourself and your talents for small amounts of money to do the things you love. But, here is the kick, as you develop a following by doing your passion you develop devoted clients. People who are willing to give you more and more money to keep doing what you do.
Believe it or not, there are people making a living (paying rent and buying food) working on online micro-gigs. I have a friend who started doing quick tasks (micro-jobs) for side money and realized (once she did the math) she could make more money and control her schedule if she did her micro-jobbing full time.
What are micro-jobs exactly? These jobs are really short tasks that can be done in a small amount of time, usually under 8 hours. You can do these jobs online, at home, in someone's residence or in a business location. What type of jobs will you find? Here's a list:
- Tagging photos
- Internet searches
- Data Entry
- Audio transcription
- Sorting items into folders for a large seminar
- Take one item from one location to another
- Assembling Ikea furniture
- Mystery shopping
- Write content
- User testing websites
. . . and much more
How do you get paid . . .Usually, these platforms will pay you through direct deposit to your bank account or Paypal. If you don't have a bank account, then you should definitely register for a Paypal account (although Paypal does require a bank account after awhile). Most people don't realize that about 20% of Americans don't have a bank account and this can get in the way of working micro-jobs within the current system. A Micro-Job Worker can get around the absence of a bank account by using Digital Wallets and Prepaid/Debit Card Accounts. I will talk about these types of accounts in a future post (stay tuned, I will connect the post here within this article when it is posted.)
How do people get micro-jobs?
To start working micro-jobs it is very simple . . . NOT EASY, but simple. And each micro-job platform has tweaks and hacks that you must learn to make it more lucrative for you under each system. I intend to outline some of these hacks (advanced tips to make you more successful for each system) on future posts, so stay tuned. Save this post because I will update it with detailed information on how to be successful on each platform. However, the first thing you should do is register!
Go to the list below and start registering to begin. That's your first step to gaining additional money starting today.
The Micro-Job Systems (where to Register):
Fiverr
This is the most popular online marketplace for creative freelancers, they are well known for graphic designers creating logos, digital marketers setting up Facebook business page, writing a post for a blog, recording a 30-second voiceover, taking photos for an Instagram page, etc. There is so much more that you can do. Check it out.
TaskRabbit
The most popular "real world" micro-job site. They have thousands of people registered and it promotes that it "connects you to safe and reliable help in your neighborhood". To register with TaskRabbit you must have a credit card and pay for a background check ($25). You need to do this because you may we working in someone's business office, or putting furniture together in someone's home, carrying important papers from one location to another or help set up a party at a local venue. They have to feel that you are reliable and responsible. To be a tasker, you will need a bank account, a credit card, and a smartphone. Sorry, but those are the requirements.
Fancy Hands
Could you make a great assistant? Do you know how to send professional emails? Can you order things from a store to be delivered to your client's home? Do you know how to cancel subscriptions? Do you know how to find and reserve services like a dog walker? Have you ever disputed credit card charges? Have you ever sent your bosses wife flowers? Do you know how to schedule doctor's appointments? Can you proofread an article? Do you know how to make travel arrangement for a business team? If you know how to do any of these things like this, you could make money as a Fancy Hands worker. The cool part about working for them is it's very flexible and you can work these jobs around family obligations. [Note: They have to sign in through your Facebook or Google account so you have to have one of these to sign up.]
Amazon Mechanical Turk
This list very small (micro) tasks that you can do really quickly. For your efforts, you can make anywhere for .01cent to $3.00. Very simple tasks that have to do with programming, data mining, data processing, data verification, classifying information, etc.
Smart Crowd [added 4/4/19]
They provide mostly data entry and translation/transcription work for big companies such as Google, Porsche, and Microsoft. It is free to sign up, you have to provide personal details to complete your profile and then do several online skill assessments. The only complaint I've hard about this site is that your hourly earnings will be below minimum wage (to increase your hourly wage you have work really fast and amazingly accurately). Also, competition among freelancers is fierce, you can go days without getting an assignment to do. But don't let that intimidate you, you gain more work and better jobs as you successfully complete tasks and projects given.
Upwork
They specialize in freelance work on a more technical level. Some of the tasks are under the categories of Web, Mobile & Software Development, IT Networking, Data Science & Analytics, Design & Creative Jobs, Writing and Translation Jobs and Legal Tasks as well.
Micro-Working Tip:
It's important to note, the success of working micro-jobs is being registered at more than ONE site so that if one site has a slow period (with no work for you), you may be able to find work on another site to fill in the gaps.
(Come Back for Updates)
These are the sites that are rated and listed as the most legitimate sites for work. I am still researching additional ones and will update the post as I find more reputable sites to register and make money with. Stay tuned.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just FYI: Some of my posts contain affiliate links. That simply means that if you buy something through one of my links, you won't pay any additional costs, but "Telecommuting Millionaire?" will get a small referral fee that helps me pay some of my business expenses.

IF YOU WIN THE LOTTERY: A simple way to keep your riches
There are so many stories of how people lose their winnings when they have a windfall, such as winning the lottery. Here is a simple way to keep your windfall working FOR you for years!
It's really simple. Ready?
Let's say you've won the lottery. Let's imagine the smallest win in California which is $7 million.
If you take the cash value of that win, you can say goodbye to 50% of the winnings. So, you actually get a lump sum of $3.5 million. Oh but wait, you have to pay your taxes! If you consider Federal and State Taxes subtract 40%.
So, take your $3.5 million x .40 = $1,400,000. Now $3,500,000 - $1,400,000 = $2,100,000
So, ultimately you will receive a check for $2,100,000 (they actually wire it to your account, but I digress). Now let's create simple steps to make your life better for the rest of your life.
Step 1. Hire a tax advisor, financial advisor and attorney. It's very important that you do this first because these guys can help you avoid taxes & fees and keep people who will try to take your money (troublemakers) away from your winnings. This should cost you no more than $25,000 initially (warning: if they want more than that, find another advisor)
($25,000)
Step 2. Get rid of debt. Most U.S. Citizens have no more than $100,000 in debt. Let's just say for this exercise you have $100,000 in debt.
($100,000)
Step 3. Charity brings good karma and is a great tax deduction, so take 10% of your winnings and give to charity.
($210,000)
Step 4. Play time! What good is winning anything if you don't take some of that money and play with it. You have permission to spend (some) of your winnings on frivolous things you've always wanted. Take 10% and play, play, play
($210,000)
Step 5. Now take the rest of your winnings and put it in a safe investment yielding at least 6% per annum. Your financial advisor will be able to tell you were you can find investments that will yield 6-10% in interest SAFELY. For this exercise we'll calculate with a conservative 6%, your financial advisor may be able to help you gain a higher yield.
You have $2,100,000 (cash winnings) - $545,000 (Steps 1-4) = $1,555,000
So, $1,555,000 x .06% = $93,300 per year.
If you keep this cash winnings in this investment, never touch that $1,555,000 million and leave it in that account you will receive at minimum $93,300 per year. This is your yearly salary, without working a 9-5 job, automatically. With no debt, could you live on $93,300 a year?
I don't know about you, but I sure can!
And as long as you take out $93,000 a year from your account or LESS, you will always be a millionaire. If you decide to take LESS than $93,000 a year . . . say $75,000 a year, you will grow your million into multi-millions within a few years!
And THAT is how you win the lottery, live well and still have millions YEARS later.
Now that you have a concrete plan if you win the lottery. Go buy a ticket! And good luck.

How do music stars go bankrupt?
We are continuing with the lesson on BIG MONEY and how NOT to become bankrupt.
Music stars, yes, music stars live a very glamorous life right?
They ride in fancy cars, wear the latest clothes, diamonds, houses, jet planes, champagne . . . all in front of the camera. Yes, it's great.
But what they don't tell these stars is when the cameras stop recording and they are sitting at home alone, they better break out the Excel Spreadsheets . . . or better yet, the pen and paper and calculator and make sure they have money left over.
Here is the Late Great Lisa "Left-eye" Lopez of the singing group TLC explaining how a group that should over 10,000,000 records in one year (yes, that's 10 million) can be in bankruptcy.
Listen carefully, because all this information can be controlled from the beginning if you work your CONTRACTS correctly (which most people that gain a big wad of money do not do). When someone starts talking to you and mentions money that is in the millions. Time to talk to a lawyer and make sure that lawyer is getting you EVERY ADVANTAGE on that contract.

What should you do if you get BIG MONEY!
Josh Childress explains: What Happens When You Sign A $11 Million Deal In The NBA
There are a lot of people (more than you are aware) that fall into money. Yes, this can happen to you. You could win the lottery, become famous, become a sports star or win a settlement . . . and of course you could inherit [it can happened!]
If you are going to have big money, you have to be ready to manage BIG MONEY. The stats show that people that have a "wind fall" (i.e. a lot money gets dropped into laps) are broke within 3-5 years. We are NOT going to have that happen to you.
Here are some people that know what it's like to have sudden money. Listen to their story and take notes of what they did. You, my dear, are NOT going to be them.

After I completed my taxes this year, I want to kick myself!
About 5 years ago, I had a successful virtual assistant business with over 30 re-occurring clients. It was a lot of work, but it was great. In 2008, one of my top clients decided that they wanted me to work with them exclusively and was willing to pay the high bill to have such a privilege. That was even greater! So, I essentially closed my business and became and independent contractor. The work was challenging and interesting, my work hours were flexible and I was well paid.
Then 2009 happened, my major client was a financial services agency. You all know what happened to businesses in the financial sector in 2009, right? Sad day for me.
Then the housing bust happened which affected my landlord's finances, but allowed my husband and I the chance to purchase the house we were renting (it is a really nice house guys). To top if off, my sister (who was living with us at the time) was diagnosed with stage-4 cancer. Everything was falling apart, and everything was whirling like a whirlwind at the same time.
Business was slow and new clients were few and far between. The bank said they were not accepting anymore 1099 income statements (that means independent contractors, people) with loan applications. Unfortunately, that's all I had to show my income or lack thereof. With a major illness, my sister did not need to be moved to a new house at this critical time. So, I did what I had to do. I got a regular, commuter job that issued a W-2.
It was the solution to everything. Our income statements satisfied the bank, the loan came through, we bought the house, we didn't have to move my sister at a critical time in her life, and the kids could stay in the schools they loved.
However, I could not see myself (operative words here) working 8+ hours a day, commuting 2 hours round trip, taking care of a home with children and a sick relative AND maintaining--even part-time--my home business. So I closed shop.
BIG MISTAKE!
The next year, my husband and I owed thousands of dollars to the IRS! We had never owed that much money to the IRS before. We were flabbergasted! But as we completed our 1040, we realized that our true financial savior was the Schedule C.
Let me tell you why:
Owning a business can really help your household's budget bottom line. The expenses and deductions from your business are amazing, they are huge.
Here are the items you can deduct if you own a legitimate business:
If you can prove that you have a dedicated space just for business in your home, you can take that space, calculate the percentage it takes up of your home and deduct expenses.
I don't think you heard me. Let me give you a "for instance". Let's look at my case. I am very blessed. I have an entire room that is devoted to my home office. Anyone (which would mean an IRS agent, business inspector, etc.) walking into this room would know immediately that this room is devoted to being my home office. They would know this simply because there is nothing but home office stuff in there: Desks, computers, printers, books, paper and more paper, office supplies. There are no beds, no sofas, no TVs - nothing that says "here we relax and entertain friends."
Now, my husband and I measured the area of our office against the appraised square footage of our home. The IRS estimates our office takes up 7% of our home. Which means . . . check this . . . we can deduct 7% of our costs to run our home.
(These are example numbers, not the real ones -- I just made them up for easy calculation)
Heating for the year? Why that's $2,000. $2,000 x 7% = $140 deduction. What?!
Alarm Service? That's $1200. $1,200 x 7% = $84 deduction. Stop!
Home Repairs? Receipts total $7,000. $7,000 x 7% = $490 deduction. Get out'a here!
Put window coverings up throughout the whole house? Well, the window coverings in the office need a separate receipt because that's fully deductible! Boom!
Are you starting to see the advantages of having a legitimate home business? Let me stress legitimate.
Well, what is legitimate? I'm glad you asked.
A business that you are working hard to gain a profit in. If you can show that you are working hard to gain a profit in your business, that you actively seek clients and customers, engage in promotion of your business, work to acquire income from your business - even if you do this just one hour out of your day. . . then you are legit.
The list of deductions I provided above for the home office, is only the beginning. There are so many more deductions that you take when you own a home or small business. For more on this, simply go to the IRS's webpage. IRS Home Office Deduction Sheet. Or talk to a tax professional, it will be worth your time and money to do so. Really.
I closed my business and went all W-2. I regret it.
Having a regular W-2 income, being an employee really sucks! (Sorry, to all you guys contented with employee status. I'm sure it works for you -- but, it doesn't for me.) It sucks so much that I have relented and I'm back in business again.
Learn from me everyone. If you've always wanted to be your own boss and start a business. Do it! Do it now!!!
If you have a business and for whatever reason, you are thinking of quitting and closing shop -- DON'T!
Stay powerful and influential my friends.

- Office Supplies
- Office Equipment
- Other Equipment you need for your work
- Software
- Publications and Books
- Postage
- Business License
- Mileage
- Travel (get a nice hotel room because you can deduct 100% of that)
- Costs while on the road (dry cleaning, tipping, rental cars)
- 50% of eating out while traveling
- Insurance premiums (if your spouse and children work for you and are covered by your insurance it's tax deductible)
- Retirement contributions
- Half of Self-Employment tax (*You have to pay 15.3% of net profits to Social Security - but you can deduct half this amount on your taxes!)
- Phone charges
- But the Pièce de résistance is the Home Office Deduction

Now that you are awake . . . creating money out of thin air.
The hidden secrets of money. Does this ring true to you, or do you think these guys are blowing smoke up your butt? Watch this video and tell me what you think.
I do agree very much agree with what these guys said when they said actual wealth equals "your time." Your time IS truly your wealth. Your time, you effort and your creativity . . . this is truly your wealth, not vehicles, not real estate, not currency, not net worth. Your TIME! Check it out. . .

We are soooo doomed, if we don't WAKE UP!
Wake up America! Wealth Inequality in the U.S.
People, when are we going to wake up? It's time to look a reality, figure out what's wrong with our current economic situation and fix it. This is not the way an equitable economy is suppose to work. The bad news is . . . we let it get this far. The good news is, we still have the power to change it. Let's throw out some ideas. What can we do to change this?
MY IDEA:
Get the money out of American politics. There are several lobbying organizations that are working to get "big money" out of politics which will allow the "common man" to win elections and legislate higher offices in the U.S. I follow these guys WOLF-PAC - an organization that works for free and fair elections. What ideas can YOU come up with that can help us get back to the "ideal" state of U.S. economics?
Watch the video and drop your comments below!

What you focus on grows . . .
Do you want to grow your problems?
Apparently, I used to love growing my problems. Seriously, I used to look at my financial situation (which was pretty bad) and focus on what I was lacking. I did this constantly, worrying about when and where the next dollar was going to come from. I would see bills and freak out. An unexpected expense would put me in a tizzy. All day long I was trying to figure out, how I was going to pay this or that. I would get really angry because everywhere around me people were driving better cars, whipping out their platinum or red credit cards, shopping for frivolous stuff for crying out loud and I couldn't even pay for essential things, like food, heat, gas!
I would clip coupons, skip lunch, plan what I could sell on e-bay next, try to hunt down a side-job I could do on weekends, because I needed, needed, needed more money and I just didn't have enough. I never had enough. I just couldn't make ends meet in my head. And it didn't help that bill collectors started calling. Urgh! Reminding me every day that I just didn't have enough money.
I obsessed over it (this lack of money), not realizing that I was growing my problem. What you obsess over, you grow. Repeat that 10 times.
Do you want to know what made me break out of obsessing on my lack of money and made me realize that if I just changed my thinking just a little bit, that things would change? When I began writing the series "Money is Everywhere: 50 Ways to Make Quick Extra Income".
I'm still not done writing that series of articles, because guess what . . . when I began concentrating on simple ways to make money -- it began to happen. I began to make more money. I was able to pay some of my bills. And I told myself, well I can do more of this and take care of more of problems. And I realized that truly money was everywhere and all I had to do was access it. Then a crazy thing happened, more money began to come my way.
My eyes were opened, I began to see all the little ways I could make more money. Then I took ACTION. I began making more money and got so wrapped up in making more money that I lost track of the series and now I have to play catch-up because . . . guess what? I found even more ways to make extra money!
We are all amazing people, and truly we are the children of God. Whatever our minds focus on, we can make happen. We can make anything grow, even our negative, doubtful things! As you sow, so shall you reap.
What did I do to change my circumstances? I refocused my mind and showed myself that money (or the potential to make money) was all around me, plentiful and there to do it's job . . . help me to pay my bills. The more I focused positively on the abundance and plentifulness of money around me, the more it comes to me. This will work on anything that you focus on. Try it.
Do you want love in your life? Then love on people. Go out, get to know people and love them. Gather love around you. Tell yourself everyday that love is out there waiting for you, waiting to rain down on you and all you have to do is meet enough people and you will find it -- everywhere.
Do you want a better career, a career that you love and wouldn't mind waking each day to do? Then tell yourself that your dream job is out there. Listen to audio and video of people doing their dream job. And then do the thing you want to do . . . for FREE, whenever you can. The opportunity will come that will let you do that thing you like doing (your dream job) for a living.
It's all about how and what you focus on. Listen, not just what you focus on but how you focus on it.
So tell me people, what good thing do YOU want in your life? How are you going to think, concentrate, focus on it from now on? Do you want to grow your good things in life? Share with me please!

Why SHOULDN'T Marissa Mayer (CEO of Yahoo!) get $36 Million Dollars?
Man, what's going on with people! There are so many articles about the female CEO of Yahoo! Inc. and how much she is getting paid -- like what she's getting paid last year is a big thing in the CEO world. It's not.
Other top executives (CEOs, COOs, CIOs, etc.) get a lot more compensation with no proof that they are doing any innovating, changing or creating value for their perspective companies. If you really look into the world of CEOs and their salaries & compensation -- I venture to say that Marrisa Mayer isn't even getting paid fairly compared to her fellow CEOs. Let's see what CEOs are getting each year:
CEO's Salary & Compensation
The average salary package of a S&P 500 Index Company is $12 Million in 2012 according to AFL-CIO Executive PayWatch.
Google Inc. , Eric E. Schmidt made $100 Million
( Base: $937,500, Bonus: $0, Stock & Other Awards: $99 Million)
Oracle Corp, Lawrence Ellison made $96 Million
( Base: $1, Bonus $0, Stock & Other Awards: $96 Million)
CBS Corp, Leslie Moonves made $69 Million
(Base: $3.5 Million, Bonus: $27.5 Million, Stock & Other Awards: $38 Million)
Discovery Communications Inc. David M. Zaslav $50 Million
( Base: $3 Million, Bonus $0, Stock & Other Awards: $47 Million)
Abercrombie & Fitch, Michael S. Jeffries $48 Million
( Base: $1.5 Million, Bonus $0, Stock & Other Awards: $46.5 Million)
Disney Co, Robert Iger $40.2 Million
( Base: $2.5 Million, Bonus $0, Stock & Other Awards: $37.7 Million)
McKesson Corp, John H. Hammergren $39.6 Million
( Base: $1.6 Million, Bonus $0, Stock & Other Awards: $38 Million)
There are more, but I was getting tired of typing so I choose these 7 . . .Please notice that these and approximate 100 more CEOs get in stock and other awards what Marrisa makes for her whole compensation package! Hmmmm.
Marrisa's Compensation:
So let's break down Marissa Mayer's take for 2012:
Base salary: $454,862
Bonus: $1,200,000
Stock Awards: $35,000,000 (which are not fully vested until 2017)
So basically, she can't sell most of her stock and realize a profit from having this stock until 2017.
So, what does this tell me? It tells me that unless she helps maintain the stock price or do things to raise the stock value up by the year 2017, she does not get much of the millions and millions you guys are crying "unfair" about. So, currently she can only get her grubby little hands on $1.6 million dollars this year. Hmmm.
Okay, so we're clear about how Marissa's pay & compensation doesn't even compare to the top 100 CEO's of the United States . . . let's look at what Marrisa brings to the table.
The Value Marrisa Brings to Yahoo! Inc.:
1. Much media attention when everyone thought Yahoo! was dead because, face it, Google is GOD in the world of "Inter-webs". And know this, Google is a jealous god. So good work Marissa for getting -- and continuing to get -- good media coverage for Yahoo! This is a tough task in itself.
2. She's revamping the company culture -- expanded benefits for Yahoo employees (except telecommuting), demanded employees take ownership of projects, gave away free technology to all employees so they can work faster and gain better response time to work. Marrissa and her team's goal is to make Yahoo! a great place to work and this push may be working because Yahoo! claims that people applying for jobs at the company has doubled in the year.
3. Yahoo's stock increased by nearly 50% from July 2012 to April 2013, thereby creating $6.8 billion (that's a "B" people!) in additional value to the shareholders of Yahoo!
4. She just announced a new plan for generating more ad revenue using what they call "Yahoo! Stream Ads" and "Billboard Ads."
5. Oh, and did I mention that she did all this while . . .birthing a freakin baby! And only took a couple of weeks off for maternity leave! But, she doubled the amount of paid leave Yahoo! gives their female employees (new mothers) from 8 weeks to 16 weeks. And increase new father's paid leave to 8 weeks.
Okay, so let's look at the bottom line. Marrisa Mayer in her first year (while having a baby) increased Yahoo!'s value $6.8 Billion while making $36 Million (of which she won't fully realize until 2017).
So in essence she's taking home .005% of the value that SHE CREATED for the company. Look at that number folks, that's not even 1% that's not even .5% (half of a percent). Excuse me but, compared to the other CEOs . . .I think that's freakin' fair!
Haters gotta stop hating!
Seriously, my dear friends, if you want to be rich some day -- if you are on the path of being wealthy and having millions, maybe even billions --you really have to stop hating on people and what they have acquired and do the numbers!
If you could start figuring out your worth within your company, your association, your industry and actually show people that your skills, expertise and knowledge can gain them wealth -- you too can ask for .5% (half a percent) of the gain or profits. You could even ask for 1% of the gain, profit or value with a good conscious and still be wealthy beyond your wildest dreams. We have to start breaking down what we can do and present them in cold, hard RESULTS (number,s usually). It's the only language business understands, so we should start learning the language -- and stop hating others that are fluent in said language.
The moral of the story
The only thing I resent about Marrisa Mayers is that she realized that she was a value to a company and that she had the fortitude to take the risks, make the changes, and create great value -- and she recognized that she should be compensated for these skills.
And I freakin' didn't recognize this about myself!
So here's the question to you (my dear reader) . . .
When are WE going to realize this, so we can gain the wealth we want?
When are WE going to recognize our value and how it benefits others?
When we can answer that about ourselves. Then we will no long waste energy questioning others and their success. We will be to busy enjoying our own!
