Earn Quick Money: Computer Cleanup

Malware, Spyware, Adware, Viruses, Trojan Horses, Browse highjacking software . . . there are so many things that attack a computer or device.  And there are so many ways that you can get these little pesky troublemakers onto your electronic device. If you are a person that knows how to clean devices of these troublemakers, you may be able to make quick money.

Have you successfully cleaned your OWN electric devices of these pests?  Do you have a favorite software that really does the job well?  Have you helped you mother, your family, your friends get their computers to stop being so slow?  Do you always check on the news involving viruses, spyware, malware and adware?

If you said YES to any of the above, then you can make extra money doing this for your family, friends and friends of friends (when you get to doing this for strangers, you will need to invest in a business license and insurance just in case things don't go well).

There are many things you can do to make money in this area.  The more you can do, the more money you can demand.  If you know how to do virus clean ups, install updates, install Operating Systems, defragmentation, clean registry, set-up computers or set-up wifi . . . you can demand a little more money for each of these additional services, so it would be really smart to learn everything you can about these issues.

Charging Your Clients

Now remember, you are charging people for your knowledge and experience (not your time).  If you can take solve malware issues in 20 minutes or 2 hours, they expecting the same price.

For instance a Computer Cleanup Service may charge:

  • $85 for a malware cleanup (virus and malware clean up)
  • $100 for installing new OS (Operating Systems)
  • $95 for a computer tuneup (clean registry, defrag the hard drive, install updates and identify viruses)
  • $30 for data backup
  • $50 for computer setup
  • $50 for wifi-setup

And it doesn't matter if doing any one of these particular tasks 1 minute or 1 hour, what they are paying you for is your expertise . . . your ability to do the thing you do -- not how long it takes.  Look at it this way, if they could do the thing, even if it took all day, they would do it.  No one calls a computer expert to fix/clean their computer because they don't have "time" to do it themselves!  So find a rate that works for you and go with it.

What You Need

  • The knowledge and experience malware cleanup on many different computer platforms
  • USB Drive or a portable hard drive with your favorite malware cleanup software
  • The ability to keep abreast of all the Malware/Virus News
  • Patience

Gain Clients

To get clients simply start with your family and friends. Let them witness how fast and malware free your electronic devices are.  Then get a business card that clearly lets people know you are only CLEANING out of their systems to make their computer work faster.  Pass them around to friends and family and make sure they refer their friends to you after you have cleaned out their computers and made them run like a cheetah on the Serengeti.  That's it.

BIG TIP:

You know that a client that has malware on their hard-drive have online habits that will soon have viruses, trojan horses, adware and the like back on their computer systems in a matter of months.  Offer a "Maintenance Package" where you charge a fee to come back every three months or so to do a clean-up and a tune-up of their systems to keep things running cleanly and quickly.
