Earn Quick Money: Baby Sitting

Do you know how to change a diaper?

Do you know how to entertain a 4-year-old?

Do you play video games?

Do you know how to bandage a boo-boo?

Do you know when to call 911?

If you answer yes to 4 of these 5 questions then you can make quick money babysitting.  Yes, I know you probably did this when you were younger around 12 or 13, but there's no law stopping you from doing it now either.  It is a great way to earn quick money and I would recommend you revisit this money solution.

I would recommend you getting your Holiday Card  List out and contacting all the parents that you know and let them know that you are available for baby sitting. Let friends and family without kids know that you are up for babysitting duty and ask them to refer you to their family/friends with children.

The best babysitters:

1.  Ask questions and make sure they know exactly what the parents expect from their babysitters.

2. Have a primary concern and goal to keep their charges safe.  Know first aid and CPR.

3. Are prepared for every possible situation. They take babysitting training courses and can show prospective parents proof that they took courses.  Have the poison control  & emergency numbers ready just in case. And can provide references of other satisfied parents and children.

Get more babysitting jobs:

If you don't have many friends with kids, or if you want to make even more money by extending your "people with kids" circle, look toward the babysitting registries below.  Because these people are strangers to you, make sure that you have references and any proof for classes (First Aid, CPR or Babysitting Courses) you have taken to assure them.

Yelp
List yourself on under "Babysitting".  I like Yelp because they have a rating system which can help you gain more clients and assure parents that you have satisfied other parents.  I tend to stay away from Craigslist because dubious people are on there and there is no way to rate someone for good service.

If you are a male babysitter (extra assurance):
The State of California makes available to all parents hiring babysitters and nannies in California the TrustLine background check. TrustLine was created by the California Legislature to give parents an important tool to use when selecting a caregiver for their children. It is the only authorized screening program of in-home and license-exempt caregivers in the state with access to fingerprint records at the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI and access to California's Child Abuse Central Index. TrustLine is endorsed by the California Academy of Pediatrics. The cost to apply to TrustLine is approximately $125 and varies a bit depending on where the caregiver gets fingerprinted. For more information, contact TrustLine at 1-800-822-8490 or www.trustline.org.  Check to see if your state has a similar service.
