Have you noticed that you and your friends are down-right exhausted? Doesn't it seem that there are is just to much going on that you can barely concentrate? All the problems and issues and obstacles in your way that you have to deal with . . . does it seem that it's all too much?
Well, it is. It is all too much.
Too much to handle, too much to sort through, too much to deal with, and to top it all off, you are exhausting yourself trying to manage it. Stop that!
The key to dealing with life, the key to being happy, the key to truly living a life of excitement and fulfillment is to . . . wait for it . . . live in your greatest power. Live in your true power.
That's great, you say - looking confused. Because, first of all you didn't really know you had power, right? And if you knew you had such power, you really don't know how to tap into it. Am I correct?
Well, I'm here to help you with the question: Where does your power lie?
It's simple really, your power is in the right now. In other words, your greatest power lives in the present - in the moment, right . . . freakin' . . . now. No other time . . . not in your past, not in your future, not tomorrow, not someday but today, specifically right this moment.
Now to access your power, you must be in the "right this moment." Not distracted with other stuff. Not fuming about a past where someone has made you a victim. Not regretting a thing that you did or did not do. Not making plans to gain more and more things in your future. Or gaining accomplishments that would be the envy to all surrounding you. Truly, the real richness of life is in the depth of each experience.
How do you find depth in each of your experiences? By focusing, really focusing on the tasks or projects you are involved in right now; or the person that is in front of you needing your attention; or the words that you are hearing; or the sensations that you are feeling; or the emotions that you should be/could be expressing . . . right now.
Seriously, ask yourself -- are you really listening? talking? feeling? experiencing? Or are you debating arguments you will have in the future, or reacting to memories of things done to you in the past? All these things are exhausting! Especially, if you are trying to do this things and remain effective in what you are doing right now. You are doing two or three things at once - constantly - that's crazy . . . and that is why you are so tired all the time!
You should live your life like a good driver drives a car. You are driving yourself down the road of LIFE, so it's only fitting that you use the rules of the road to receive the richest most eventful ride of your life. Let's see what rules of the road applies to driving a powerful, wonderful life.
1. A good driver never focuses on their rear view mirrors.
A good driver glances at his/her mirrors periodically (especially when they are going to make a lane change). Their mirrors are a good tool to make sure they don't crash into things behind or on the side of them. Your past (your rear view mirrors) is only a tool -- a barometer to where you should be going next. You should never dwell on what's behind you because you are going forward! Dwelling on what is behind you can get you in a huge accident or run over a pedestrian. I remember my driving instructor telling me that the many pile ups with multiple cars happen because the driver is distracted, looking at the rear view mirror of the accident happening behind them that they get in huge accidents in front of them. The only time you can afford to focus all your attention on the rear view mirrors (your past) is when you are standing still. If you are moving forward, no matter how slowly you are moving, your focus should be in front of you. If you are focused on your past (looking back) you are either standing still or in real danger of making a mess out of your present.
2. Don't try to judge the distance from where you are.
A good driver glances in the far distance but realizes that due to light, road conditions, weather . . . what's farther ahead can be very deceptive. When you were driving (or even riding) have you ever looked ahead in the road and thought, "Oh cool, that looks like my destination is about 30 minutes away, I'll be there in no time." But in actuality, as you travel it becomes evident that the destination is actually further away than you estimated and instead of the 30 minutes you estimated, it's about 3 hours? Keeping your sight on the far distance can be very discouraging. The road is often longer and bumpier than you think. The obstacles right in front of you (like that slow moving 16-wheeler going 25 miles an hour because it's loaded with stuff) can slow down your journey or even delay the journey. You've already mapped out your destination, don't worry about it -- deal with what's in front of you.
3. A good driver keeps their eye on the road around them.
They monitor the speed of the cars around them. They keep their eyes on what's immediately ahead and surrounding them -- easily avoiding accidents, easily moving around road-kill, seeing pedestrians and actually enjoying the scenery around them. They even notice places that they can stop, explore and rest on the way. Making the trip an easy fun adventure instead of a stressed-out time-watching unpleasant event.
When you live in the moment, you are being a good driver of LIFE. And a good driver of life accepts who they are and where they are and enjoys that! They are free to be who they really are. They see exactly what is going on around them. And become more free-flowing with the ability to identify and deal with obstacles and problems that jump in front of them.
Okay, so you are convinced you want to try this "Live in the Moment" thing, but how in the heck do you start doing this?
By Living Your Passion
Best way to practice living in the moment, is to understand what it feels like to live in the moment. To truly understand what it feels like, you first have to live in your passion. Find something that you are passionate about doing, something that just makes you feel good. Do this everyday . . . even if it's just 15 minutes out of your day. Do it. While you are involved in your passion, can you describe how it makes you feel? That's what living in the moment feels like. It's when you are most focused; when that 15 minutes seems like 15 seconds; when you are doing something that you can do all day long and still not be tired of it. That is what it feels like to truly live in the moment.
Finding your Happiness
Another way to live in the moment is to find something that makes you happy or that you are happy about. Find something about your current moment that you are enjoying, right now. In that instance, you are living in the moment. Seriously, think a minute and list some of the things that you are enjoying right now.
For instance, you would say . . .
Well, at least I'm warm and comfortable;
at least it's quiet and I can concentrate;
at least I have my favorite jeans on;
at least the baby isn't kicking right now;
at least my back doesn't hurt right now;
at least I'm listening to the music I like;
at least my kids are happy;
at least my car is clean;
at least my friends like me;
at least I don't owe anyone money right now;
at least I have money for lunch.
Those little satisfying moments when you feel good about life, are moments you are living in the moment. These little moments give you the chance to live, fully, completely.
So, how to do keep yourself living in the moment?
Do one of these things at least once a day.
1. Buy yourself some flowers and keep them near you as you work;
2. Introduce yourself to a stranger and find out as much about them as you can;
3. Send a postcard or letter to someone you know telling them how great they are;
4. Hum your favorite song and concentrate of hearing the words in your head;
5. Do something you always wanted to do;
6. Do something you really like doing;
7. Do or experience something that always makes you laugh or smile.
Now, what does that make you feel like? Hold that feeling. Dwell on that feeling all day long every day, try to stay in that space as you go along your day. Literally understand that living in this moment is essential to your mental and emotional health, because this moment is all you can handle -- all you should handle -- and it is where your real power lies.
Stay in your power.
You know why I'm helping you stay within your power don't you? Of course, because you know that I have always wanted powerful and influential friends, right?
